Cannon Falls opened its season by winning both the Class AA high kick competition and the Class A jazz event at the Apple Valley invitational Saturday.
“The scores were very reflective of how we danced,” Bomber Dance Team coach Carrie Pommier said. “It was a fun day. We had a lot of new girls out there today. It was fun to see them earn their rhinestones.”
Cannon Falls competed in the eight-team Class AA division because it was one of only two Class A teams to register for the high kick competition. The Bomber Dance Team opted up because it preferred to compete against a larger field, Pommier said.
“They went out there and they killed,” Pommier said of the high kick performance. “… We have a lot to work on, but I couldn’t have asked for more.”
The Class A jazz competition consisted of three teams.
Cannon Falls returns to action Dec. 11 at Eastview.
