Howe submits letter of resignation

Red Wing Mayor John Howe Monday has submitted his letter of resignation, effective Jan. 4. Howe won the District 28 senate seat in the recent election.

The City Council announced the vacancy of the mayor's office at Monday's meeting. Red Wing will hold a special election early next year. Filing will begin Nov. 29 and run to Dec. 10.

The soonest date the election could be held is Feb. 3, according to city Clerk Kathy Johnson.
