Norton’s changes its name to Sarah’s

Norton’s Downtown and Lucky Cat Lounge is changing its name to Sarah’s.

Norton’s Downtown and Lucky Cat Lounge is changing its name to Sarah’s. The new name, which reflects a change in ownership from Greg and Sarah Norton to Sarah Norton taking full ownership, will take effect Nov. 9.

• Lauren Petersen, Red Wing, recently represented Humane Society of Goodhue County at a one-day workshop in Minneapolis.

Presented by Petfinder.com, the online database of homeless pets, the workshop was sponsored by Minnesota Valley Humane Society and PETCO.

Topics included fundraising, marketing and other strategies to increase adoptability of animals.

• Cory Doden has joined Express Employment Professionals in Red Wing. Doden has held leadership positions with Winnebago Industries and Schwan Food Co. His experience includes leading teams in finance, customer service, manufacturing, technology and product development, Express franchise owner Scott Sodergren said.

A desire to teach and assist business owners led him to purchase an Action COACH franchise in 2007.

He sold that business and decided to join Express, he said.

“It’s very rewarding being part of the dedicated staff at Express to help good people find meaningful work for great companies in the area,” Doden said.

• Shannan Harris, president of Downtown Main Street and owner of Moments on Main, Cindy VanWinkle, owner of Life’s Little Oasis, and Tracy Hardyman, program coordinator from Downtown Main Street, recently attended retail strategies training in Willmar, Minn.

Participants discussed how Main Street retail businesses can meet the challenges of today’s marketplace.

The three-hour seminar identified information and strategies that retailers can use to compete in today’s evolving retail markets. The training was provided by Minnesota Main Street and Hometown Minnesota Inc.
