Red Wing School Board members on Monday approved plans to boost student achievement around the district.

Improvement plans approved

Red Wing School Board members on Monday approved plans to boost student achievement around the district.

Plans for academic improvement at Sunnyside Elementary, Burnside Elementary and the Red Wing School District were required following the state’s Adequate Yearly Progress report issued in August. Since those schools did not meet proficiency requirements, the state requires the district submit a plan and to dedicate 10 percent of federal funding to teacher training.

Instruction Services Director Kathy Radmer said the state’s Department of Education could approve the school improvement plans by mid-January.
