Letter: Marty Kelly asks voters for their support

To the Editor:

I am seeking your support in becoming your next sheriff.

I was approached over a year ago by current staff and several people throughout our county who encouraged me to run because they believe that it is time for fresh leadership and new ideas.

I believe strongly that the sheriff needs to be a visible leader throughout the county and not just at election time.

The sheriff needs to connect with the citizens of Goodhue County to understand the issues you are facing. This is about customer service.

We need to get to the communities and townships to see how we can assist in serving all of you better. I want to make sure we do not lose contracts with communities as we did in Kenyon because we are not providing customer satisfaction.

I am of the thought that citizens elect leaders for their ability to pull people together for a common goal.

Administrators are appointed, but this position affords citizens an opportunity to elect a sheriff whom they feel can perform day-to-day duties yet be their voice.

I am prepared to put together an extremely energetic administration and look forward to the opportunity to serve Goodhue County.
