Letter: Democrats have put us in a hole

To the Editor:

In response to Paul Droto’s letter (R-E Oct. 23), yes, Paul, we remember how the present “Democratic regime” has put us in trillion dollars of debt, more than the total government debt accumulated from the time of George Washington, through George Bush. This debt will be on the shoulders of our children and grandchildren.

We also remember how Republicans were actually locked out of the Democratic meeting rooms this session, as the Democrats developed the stimulus, health bill and all other boondoggles. We remember how Nancy Pelosi told her members to vote yes on the health bill and “we’ll learn what it involves afterwards.” Nobody had read it!

Then, in the usual political deception, Democrats labeled Republicans as the party of no. After all, how could they vote yes on a bill that was secretly compiled and, when finally seeing it, knew it to be faulty.

It is the Democratic regime, which has put us “in the hole” and the Republicans who will do the rescuing.

John Kline has been an excellent, intelligent representative, who worked to help Minnesotans. We need more people like him, and I hope this election will produce them.

Paul, it’s the Democrats who have given us the shaft, not the Republicans as you so unwittingly stated.
