To the Editor:

I have worked as a Goodhue County patrol deputy since April 2005 and have worked under Chief Deputy Scott McNurlin since being hired.

When I started we did not have computers in squads and had to rely on driving to county offices to complete reports or to research criminals. Scott was instrumental in moving all county law enforcement to a common mobile data platform. This change has increased officer efficiency and safety.

I have worked closely with Scott on upgrading our county’s public safety radio network. Scott has done a tremendous amount of work in securing grant dollars to pay for this upgrade. Scott’s hard work resulted in a $3.5 million cost savings to the county.

Given Scott’s excellent work with funding the radio project I have no doubt in Scott’s ability to manage the Sheriff’s Office budget.

Scott understands that society is becoming more reliant on technology, and he has done a good job giving us the equipment to keep up.

Scott has been with the Sheriff’s Office since 1983 and is well qualified to lead us into the future. Please vote for Scott on Nov. 2.
