Letter: Hove won’t support fees
Voters should ask why “good old boy” former City Council member Steve Castner is supporting John Sachen (R-E, Oct 13).By: Jason Sebion, Red Wing, The Republican Eagle
To the Editor:
Voters should ask why “good old boy” former City Council member Steve Castner is supporting John Sachen (R-E, Oct 13). I do not want a return to the autocratic leadership we suffered under Castner. Apparently, the sore losers who wanted to ruin our riverfront are trying to put their cronies in.
I found an apt response to those who have been attacking Dean Hove in a speech by Teddy Roosevelt. “Those who practice mud slinging like to encourage confusion of ideas. It puts a premium on knavery to attack an honest man with untruth. The liar is no whit better than the thief.”
Castner got one point especially wrong; it was Sachen who picked up ideas from other candidates during the recent forum. When Sachen was the first to answer a question about the Port Authority, we got to see Sachen lacks basic knowledge.
In the Oct. 13 R-E, Sachen says he wants parking fees downtown and at boat ramps, which would keep tourists and locals away. I am voting for Dean Hove. Hove will not support new fees or job killing tax increases.
