Letter: McNurlin is best for post

To the Editor:

We are going to cast our votes for Scott McNurlin. We know that we have two well-liked candidates for sheriff. So now we have to look at their job experience and education to select the most qualified candidate.

As taxpayers of Goodhue County, we want someone who is qualified not only to lead the sheriff’s department but to administer it as well. Mr. Kelly says he has the skills to do that, but his resume suggests that he may not have the administrative and educational background necessary to manage a department of over 100 men and women and a budget of over $7.7 million.

We know how important that aspect of the job well be as we look at the difficult budget decisions our sheriff will have to make. Let’s elect the most qualified man for the job, Scott McNurlin.
