Letter: Sachen didn’t take firm stand

To the Editor:
During a recent forum, John Sachen said that he has lived here since the second grade, omitting that he lived outside Red Wing for many years. It is a small thing on its face, but not the whole truth.
While Sachen did honestly admit that he had only been involved for a few months, his answers demonstrated little knowledge of Red Wing’s budget situation and no understanding of how the city operates.
Sachen responded with platitudes like “I’m no expert” and “there is always room for improvement.” Sachen said he researched the easement to protect our riverfront, but he seemed to be looking to please both sides. I respect a candidate who takes a firm stand.
In the end, Sachen offered no new ideas and failed to articulate his plans for our future.
I will not be voting for Sachen. He is not a good fit for City Council.
