Letter: McNurlin goes above and beyond

To the Editor:

It is with interest I have read and listened to the various comments and articles regarding the upcoming sheriff’s election.

During the 40 years I served in the field of law enforcement, we faced many changes and challenges. Technology opened doors for us we never dreamed of.

Now we are faced with choosing a new sheriff. Someone who is capable of leading today’s sheriff’s department. This is a challenge that will require a special person who is highly experienced in all areas.

I began working with Scott McNurlin in 1987. I immediately realized Scott was a young man who had dedicated his life to law enforcement. He was and continues to be an outstanding officer.

Every assignment given was carried out in a timely and professional manner. He went above and beyond what was expected of him. His accomplishments are well documented.

His understanding of the crime issues of today is evident to those that work with him. We must not lose Scott’s experience and expertise.

In my opinion Scott would make an excellent sheriff for Goodhue County. I fully endorse him and ask that you consider this highly qualified man for your next sheriff.
