Letter: Hove isn’t transparent and his ‘truth’ changes
I support John Sachen for Wards 1-2.By: Steve Castner, Red Wing, The Republican Eagle
To the Editor:
I support John Sachen for Wards 1-2.
John is a qualified leader. I believe he can stick with the issues and not be a flip-flopper, as we have seen in the Mt. Caramel fiasco. Dean Hove has made several statements and even votes then changed his mind.
After watching the forum Thursday night, it is obvious he is not an independent thinker, but merely picked up ideas from other candidates.
Hove is also on record supporting no raises for the public employees, however, he voted for a cost-of-living raise for the council members. This raise will come automatically without discussion or public awareness.
I don’t think he has a clue about transparency. Or worse yet, not transparent in matters which affect him, such as voting on the city’s recycling and incinerator, clearly a conflict of interest.
One letterwriter challenged Hove’s decision on fiscal matters. Hove answered on his website in a section called “the truth.” One answer was about Mt. Caramel in which he stated the council president signed a purchase agreement without citizens’ knowledge or a vote by the City Council. Strangely that part of the “truth” was missing soon after. It appears to be the truth as Hove sees it, not what it actually is.
It is time to get new, solid representation on our council, get rid of Dean and his “good old boys network.”
It is time for a leader. Please vote for John Sachen.
