Betcher to speak in Plum City

Red Wing author John L. Betcher will address the Pageturners, a book at Plum City Public Library, at 7 p.m. Oct. 20. His new novel, “The 19th Element,” was the group’s September reading selection.

“The premise is a suspected Al Qaeda terrorist cell plotting to take over Minnesota’s Prairie River Nuclear Power Plant,” a club spokesman said. “Can the retired, former elite U.S. government intelligence operative James ‘Beck’ Becker foil the terrorists plot in time? Can public officials really be bribed with donuts? Can John L. Betcher tell us where Urland and Brenda originated from?”

The presentation is free and open to the public.
