Letter: Fricke wants to get things done

District 28 voters have an opportunity to advance their progressive position in Minnesota politics.

To the Editor:

District 28 voters have an opportunity to advance their progressive position in Minnesota politics.

For nine terms, they have elected and re-elected a senator who stood for independent thinking while remaining steeped in the values of his constituents. By electing Joe Fricke, voters will uphold the same values and select an honest, genuine, and diligent leader.

In knowing Joe for over 20 years, I have learned he offers himself no option but honesty. As a friend, this may mean Joe may tell you what you don’t want to hear. As an elected official, this means Joe will assertively address issues as they are — difficult and challenging.

He will not disguise or make light of topics with catch phrases or political rhetoric.

Recently I took an hour car ride with the DFL candidate, where I had the chance to dig into the race, probing on the challenges, opportunities and issues. When I posed the most elementary question of why anyone would want to claim the vacant seat, Joe responded clearly and simply, “There’s so much work to do, and I want to be the one who does it.”

Joe’s motivation and honest approach makes him the right choice.
