Editorial: Flood cleanup going well

Soaring high: Flood cleanup efforts are well under way, thanks in large part to people, businesses, civic groups and relief organizations generously giving their time and money. We applaud everyone’s efforts and encourage citizens to help in any way they can. If we work together, communities will be in good shape by winter.

Soaring high: Thursday’s election forums — one involving city candidates and another featuring the two Goodhue County sheriff candidates — had one key thing in common. At both, people actually answered the questions.

What a nice change from federal and statewide races, where politicians all too often twist their responses so they can talk about what’s on their minds rather than address what citizens want to know.

We look forward to additional local debates this month.
