To the Editor:
During the past 27 years I have worked directly with Scott McNurlin and watched him prepare himself for the opportunity to serve as your Sheriff.
Throughout Scott’s career he has been out in our communities being involved and building lasting partnerships between the Goodhue County Sheriff’s Office and the citizens of the county. Scott has dedicated his entire career to the Sheriff’s Office and gained experience first-hand by working in all divisions of the Sheriff’s Office. Scott’s opponent’s experience comes through working for the Red Wing police.
This difference is important. Police agencies deal with similar law enforcement issues; however, the sheriff manages additional services and divisions that are mandated by state statute that police agencies do not.
Scott presently serves as chief deputy and has the diverse experience and education needed to effectively manage the department’s $9.2 million budget, seven divisions and 115 employees. In today’s economy, this experience, qualifications, leadership and fiscal responsibility Scott possesses are invaluable to the operation of the Sheriff’s Office and for all citizens.
Scott is a person of high integrity and is dedicated to making Goodhue County a safer place to live. Please join me in supporting Scott McNurlin for Goodhue County sheriff.
