Letter: Hove shows financial prudence

Dean Hove is a man of high principles, proven leadership and a solid vision for our future. Visit deanhove.com and click on The Future of Red Wing. It contains a point-by-point description of his plans.

We know Hove will keep his promises, because he has a record of doing what he says. He kept taxes down and got spending under control, kept police and fire protection going strong, and saved our riverfront at the same time.

Our top concern this year is tax money; how much is collected and how it is spent. Red Wing is levying $1.75 million less from all taxpayers now than in 2002, when Hove was first elected. We have watched the meetings as Hove works to squeeze every nickel of waste from the budget to avoid raising taxes.

We saw an example of Hove’s financial prudence during a budget meeting. There was talk of bonding to cover the budget shortfall. Hove said, “No.” Clearly Hove “gets it.”

Staying out of debt strengthens our local economy. Borrowing only adds to the burden of our children. If you are voting for a fiscally responsible future, the sure bet is Dean Hove.
