Letter: Betcher is well-rooted in county

To the Editor:

I’ve always found it amusing when newcomers jump into political action before they’ve hardly had time to unpack. I enjoy meeting new people and will always extend the hand of friendship to them, however I feel positions of public service are best filled by people that have been a hands-on part of the area they plan to serve. When instant public service becomes the mode of operation, the red flag of caution pops up and I begin to wonder what brought this person here, if they have been enticed to locate here by someone with a personal agenda and if the person will be here long enough to take a well-rooted interest in the area.

The bottom line for me is Steve Betcher has been doing a good job for us. He and his wife have grown up right here and know what’s happening on a daily basis.

It gives me a good feeling to know the person making decisions for the area will also be living right here with the results of those decisions.

I hope you’ll all vote Betcher for county attorney.
