The Lakers were hosting a "Dig for the Cure" fundraiser Thursday to support breast cancer awareness and Pepin coach Rachel Pomerenning said it helped spark her team to a home win.

Members of the Pepin team received pledges for various statistical categories such as digs or kills. Pomerenning said the goal was to raise $300, but "we're sure we did well over that."

Cori Terpstra led the team with 20 digs and added three kills.

"She was everywhere on the floor digging the ball up," Pomerenning said.

Tasha Heit was cleared to play Wednesday after missing two weeks because of what Pomerenning called minor knee surgery and led the team with four kills in her return. Heit didn't play in the back row in an effort to ease her back into action.

"She did strong in the front row," Pomerenning said. "She did very well coming back."

Bri Ellison led the Pepin (4-1 overall, 3-1 Dunn-St. Croix) with 10 set assists and five aces.
