To the Editor:

Goodhue County is blessed to have two fine law enforcement officers running for county sheriff.

This campaign posed a dilemma for me because both candidates are my friends and I respect them both. Having worked with them for over a decade I know each of them pretty well.

In my opinion when it comes to preparation, achievements, experience and education there is no comparison.

Scott McNurlin has worked for the sheriff’s department for 27 years. As the chief deputy for almost 12 years he has virtually run the office in a manner leaving little to be desired.

Sheriff Dean Albers has frequently stated that McNurlin’s main job was to make him look good and he has done that very well.

He has a master’s Degree in police leadership, administration and education and is a graduate of the National FBI Academy.

McNurlin also has garnered numerous awards for outstanding service that speak to his competence.

McNurlin is a leader’s leader and has prepared himself meticulously to be our sheriff.

Compare the resumes of both candidates and who would you hire? There is no comparison and the logical choice for our next sheriff is the best of the best, Scott T. McNuriin.
