Letter: Truth needed in city campaigns
Local campaigns for office are unique because neighbors and friends run against each other.By: Dean Hove, Red Wing, The Republican Eagle
To the Editor:
Local campaigns for office are unique because neighbors and friends run against each other.
Let’s forgive those who want their candidate elected so badly, they sign letters that are not based on facts (R-E Sept. 18). I appreciate an honest appraisal of my work on behalf of Red Wing residents, but Jack Byrne’s letter threw out a laundry list of fictitious allegations.
Since this is the second similar letter, I have a new page on my website, DeanHove.com, titled The Truth. It has the claims made by my opponent’s supporters in one column, and the facts in another. The Truth will be updated after each attack.
I regret having to take this action, but the record needs to be set straight.
I want to give voters the chance to make their election choice based on accurate information.
The truth is: Red Wing government is shrinking. When revenues decreased, we cut spending. City staff has been reduced by 26, to 1970s levels, while public safety remains strong.
Call me at home: 388-1072 or email me at deanhove@charter.net. This seat is not mine, it is the people’s.
