Letter: Kelly has background we need

To the Editor:

For the over a decade, I have had the privilege of knowing the Marty Kelly family.

Marty’s parents, Mike and Nancy. have instilled in all of their 10 children a dedication to God, family and community.

As a result, brother Tim served tirelessly on the Red Wing School Board and now represents the Goodhue County area as state representative for District 28A.

Marty has kept Red Wing safe for over 21 years as a police officer. Brother Jim has served 12 years as corrections sergeant at the county Law Enforcement Center and brother Pat is a 12-year veteran deputy of the Goodhue County sheriff department.

Marty’s sisters are no less dedicated.

Laurie is program director for Lutheran Social Services. Chris is vice president of operations for the Benedictine Health System.

Kathy works with home and community-based support services for the Minnesota Department of Human Services, sister Nancy is wellness coordinator for the Prairie Island Tribal Community while mom Nancy is a hospice volunteer.

This is the kind of background and support system I want behind the man I vote for sheriff and that man is Marty Kelly.
