TOWN OF ROCK ELM - A small biplane carrying two men crashed in a field in eastern Pierce County Sunday morning.

The Elmwood Ambulance Service transported the men from the scene to the River Falls Area Hospital, according to information gathered on-scene.

The pilot, Stephen Weber, 59, complained of head and lower back injuries. The passenger, Leon McNamera, 64, also said he had head and back injuries, according to a Pierce County Sheriff's Department press release.

The accident was reported to the Sheriff's Department shortly after 9 a.m. The men said they were traveling from Hastings to Mondovi, Wis.

The plane didn't appear to have sustained major damage. It was said to have skidded approximately 70 feet in a soybean field before coming to a stop and was upright. Tom Nelson reportedly owns the property.
