A Goodhue man was injured Wednesday morning in Wanamingo after the semi-trailer he was driving crashed into a ditch, releasing several hogs from the truck in the process.
Authorities were called at 11:20 a.m. to the 5700 block of Highway 60 in Wanamingo Township for a personal injury accident. According to the Minnesota State Patrol, the semi drifted off the road onto the shoulder, then lost control before tipping on its side.
Arnie Meyer, 30, was taken to St. Marys Hospital in Rochester with minor injuries.
Wanamingo Fire Chief Scott Goodman said about 15 pigs were released from the trailer during the crash – all of which he said survived.
Goodman said the crash closed the highway for about three hours while crews worked to get the truck back on its wheels. He said the process was slowed as other workers attempted to transfer the hogs into another vehicle.
