Letter: Kelly would do outstanding job

To the Editor:

We wholeheartedly support Marty Kelly for Goodhue County sheriff. Having known him for almost 20 years, we have witnessed his passion, knowledge, and unwavering commitment to those he serves.

Marty is a true leader who is willing to take on new challenges. This first became apparent to us when he became Red Wing High School’s first school liaison officer. We saw his positive interaction with students, parents, teachers, and administrators. Using his innate ability to engage with, listen to, and understand the needs of others, Marty set the standard for other liaison officers to follow. He will use these same skills as sheriff to listen to the public, collectively agree on goals, and ultimately achieve the desired results to make our county great!

The challenging economic times we are experiencing demand innovative, efficient, and outside-the-box thinking. Just as Marty forged new pathways as the school liaison officer, he will lead the sheriff’s office through these tough years. He will get things done through grass roots efforts, reaching out to citizens from across Goodhue County.

Simply put, Marty will do an outstanding job as Goodhue County sheriff.

We will be casting our votes for Marty Kelly on Aug. 10 and encourage you to do the same.
