The Red Wing 18U softball team dropped its first game Saturday at the Rice Lake, Wis., tournament, but rallied to win the consolation championship by winning its next two games.
The Red Wing 18U softball team dropped its first game Saturday at the Rice Lake, Wis., tournament, but rallied to win the consolation championship by winning its next two games.
Red Wing lost to Seymour 7-2 in the opening round before beating Ladysmith 5-2 and Barron 1-0. Morgan Bohmbach -- the pitcher of record in all three games -- allowed only two earned runs in the three games. She struck out 24 and allowed just 10 hits on the weekend.
Tesha Buck led Red Wing in hitting with a 7-for-8 tournament. Buck hit a game-winning RBI triple in the seventh inning against Barron in the consolation championship game.
Kassy Guse added two doubles. Macy Kelly and Morgan Nielson also had multiple hits in the tournament.
Red Wing (5-13) will play a doubleheader Tuesday at Stewartville and then conclude its season Saturday with a tournament in Pepin.
