12U Purple shows improvement, splits with Byron

Mackenzie Cota and Jenna Peterson both hit home runs in a 9-4 victory in Game 1. Rebecca Swenning, Lauren Grant and Cota each had a triple.
In the second game, a 10-4 Red Wing loss, Cota went 2-for-2.
Red Wing plays host to the Rochester Thunder at 6 p.m. Tuesday. It will then travel to Hastings on Saturday and Sunday for the state tournament.
