Red Wing sirens tested after failures reported

Tornado sirens sounded at 1 p.m. today as a test by Goodhue County emergency officials after several around Red Wing failed during Wednesday’s storms.
According to a county press release, the sheriff’s office and the office of emergency management are working with the siren vendors to resolve the problem.
“We will be monitoring the situation until the problem is resolved,” the press release states.
Though the problem was limited to the Red Wing area, county officials encouraged other residents to alert OEM Director Diane Richter-Biwer for any siren malfunctions. Her number is 651-267-2639.
