Venice Gas House Trolley, a band out of Madison, Wis., will perform at 7:30 p.m. July 17 at the WideSpot Performing Arts Center in Stockholm.
Described as a cerebral groove, “the band initially hearkens back to ancient times when folks would freak out digging ecstatic poets and musicians and then explodes through the present and into the future with vocal effects, aggressive jam, tribal rock, high and lonesome country, avant-garde jazz and ambient chill,” Widespot organizers said.
The group features the words and vocals of Adam Gregory Pergament, a finalist for the 2009 Minnesota Spoken Word Association’s “Urban Griot” International/ National Performer of the Year award and two-time Madison Area Music Awards finalist.
Also performing are Tim Peeters, a Madison Area Music Award winner on bass, and Josh Pultorak on drums.
Tickets are $10. Go to www. widespotperformingarts.org.
