Plane crash-lands in rural Cannon Falls

A pilot escaped injury Monday morning when his airplane crash-landed in rural Cannon Falls.

Goodhue County sheriff’s deputies said Benny Svien, 58, Northfield, Minn., was approaching Stanton Airfield when he felt the plane’s single propeller go “flat.” He missed the runway and landed in a grassy area in an adjoining farm field. The plane flipped on its wings, according to reports.

The Federal Aviation Administration is investigating the crash.
