Two people were seriously injured Monday after the vehicle they were in rearended a semi-trailer in rural Goodhue County.
Lucas Amundson, 21, rural Kenyon, was in serious condition Tuesday morning at St. Marys Hospital in Rochester and his passenger, 18-year-old Margaret Broin was in fair condition, a hospital spokeswoman said.
According to Goodhue County sheriff’s deputies, Amundson’s vehicle rearended a semi stopped at 490th Street and County Road 43 in Roscoe Township. The semi driver, Michael Kelpperich, 28, rural Zumbrota, told officers he was stopped at a stop sign when he felt a bump and got out. A witness reported seeing the Amundson vehicle strike the semi.
Neither Amundson nor Broin were seatbelted, deputies said. Alcohol was not believed to be a factor in the crash.
