Red Wing's Mark Giorgi won the 2010 Phil Mickelson Award on Friday night.

The award goes to the most outstanding freshman in Division III men's golf. Giorgi is a freshman at Saint John's University.

The award came on the heels of Giorgi winning both the Central Region and Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Freshman of the Year honors earlier this week. Giorgi was also named to the Division III PING All-America second team.

Giorgi had six birdies en route to a three-under par 69 to lead the Johnnies in the final round of the NCAA Division III Championship. He tied for 13th place overall with a score of 294.

The Johnnies took fourth out of 37 team in the tournament in Hershey, Pa.
