Goodhue County Board downed a request Tuesday made by two residents asking the county institute tougher regulations on wind energy developments.
Most notably the residents asked the county place a one-year moratorium on wind farm developments and increase setback requirements between windmills and nearby dwellings to .6-mile.
The board said the proposal did raise the need to come up with new, most likely stiffer, regulations for wind farms. The board authorized planning officials to begin drafting a new ordinance.
