Editorial: Final answer isn’t blowing in the wind

Whoever blows the hardest, for or against wind development, mustn’t win the debate raging across Goodhue County. Facts — combined with a vision for the future — must carry the day over raised voices and accusations.

On Tuesday, the Goodhue County Board is expected to consider the Planning Advisory Commission’s recommendation against establishing a one-year moratorium on wind development. They may be tempted to heed the loudest voices, but commissioners know that’s not why people elected them.

We urge everyone involved to conduct themselves with professionalism. State your position, listen to the other side, follow proper procedure and let the board proceed. Regardless of whether you support large-scale wind development coming to Goodhue County or not, we’re all answerable for our conduct.
