Area track and field: Elmwood-Plum City collects first-, second-place finishes

Elmwood-Plum City put up great performances at Baldwin-Woodville on Tuesday despite missing the majority of its team members for the first seven events due to a band conflict.

Elmwood-Plum City put up great performances at Baldwin-Woodville on Tuesday despite missing the majority of its team members for the first seven events due to a band conflict.

The boys finished in first place out of six teams, while the girls took second.

Gabe Rodriguez had four noteworthy events. He won the 400-meter dash in 53.2 seconds and the 200 in 23.5. Rodriguez took second in both the long jump (19 feet, 6 3/4 inches) and the 100 (11.9).

Elmwood-Plum City finished first in the 4 x 100 and the 4 x 400 relays. The Plum City students in 4 x 100 event were Tim Wayne and Lance Von Holtum. In the 4 x 400 Plum City's runners were Von Holtum and Alex Gilles.

Alex Hartung also took home a first-place finish. He threw the shot put 42-9.

As for the girls, Jordyn Mark won the triple jump with a jump of 31-3 1/2. The 4 x 400 team took first, finishing in 4:30. Heather Von Holtum and Marah Boyer were the Plum City runners in that race.
