Several Wingers named All-Missota

The Missota Conference has announced its all-conference athletes for the winter sports season and Red Wing High School is well represented.

The Missota Conference has announced its all-conference athletes for the winter sports season and Red Wing High School is well represented.

The boys swimming and diving team had seven athletes honored. Seniors Turner Eckstrom, Kyle Engen and Ben Dulak were named to the all-conference team along with junior Travis Carlson and eighth-grader Tanner Alms. Sophomores Andrew Berg and Connor O'Keefe were named to the all-conference honorable mention team.

In all, 12 Red Wing hockey players received a post-season honor by the Missota Conference.

For the boys, Patrick Noesen, Josh Mensing, Jake O'Borsky and Jared Nelson received all-conference honors while Kas Mapel and Jack Strusz received honorable mention recognition.

As for the girls, Rose Alleva, Lisa Nibbe, Lydia Wagner and Paige Haley were named to the Missota All-Conference team. Two defensemen were named to the honorable mention team, Elle Anderson and Jackie Friedrich.

Mitch Earney was the lone Winger named to the boys basketball all-conference team. The senior captain averaged 12.7 points per game and 6.5 rebounds per game this season. Pat Kelly and Colin Quinn were two of 16 named to the honorable mention team.

Kassidy Coplan, an eighth grade gymnast for Red Wing, was named an honorable mention all-conference athlete.

As previously published, Tesha Buck and Jen Ulveling were named to the all-conference girls basketball team while seniors Olivia Johnson and Megan Fleming both made the honorable mention team.
