B&B host also performs weddings

A new option is available to southeastern Minnesota couples who are looking for a non-traditional venue for their wedding.

Weddings by the Frog & Bear offers ceremonies at the Frog & Bear bed-and-breakfast inn, Lake City, or a site within 60 miles of Lake City.

The Rev. Dale Bluem, a non-denominational minister, is licensed by the state to officiate weddings. Bluem and his wife, Betty, own the B&B.

"There are a lot of couples wanting to get married in the area and sometimes, they have a hard time finding someone who will marry them," he said.

"Some of the many reasons are: they are not members of a church, they are living together, one or both have been divorced, or they just want to have their wedding their way, so the couples are turned away from traditional venues," Bluem explained.

He will marry anyone with a valid Minnesota marriage license if the date is open, he said, adding that he respects all beliefs and traditions - spiritual, religious and secular. If couples choose, Bluem added, wedding planning services and overnight accommodations are available.

The Frog & Bear is at 411 W. Center St. Call (651) 345-2122 or (800) 753-9431.
