Lake City placed first in the high kick division and Zumbrota-Mazeppa finished first in jazz at Saturday’s Dover-Eyota invitational.
“We put on our best performance so it was definitely a successful day for us,” Lake City coach Heather Sell said.
The invitational was the final competition for both teams until the Section 1A tournament on Feb. 6 at Z-M. The top three high kick teams at sections advance to the state tournament.
Sell said that placement in high kick has been inconsistent throughout the season.
“Really there are so many strong teams that next weekend it’s anyone’s game,” she said.
There were 12 teams competing in high kick at Dover-Eyota and Z-M came in third.
