Lorraine Elizabeth Nance, 89, of Red Wing, died Saturday, Jan. 23, 2010, at St. Brigid’s at Hi-Park.

She was born March 23, 1920, in New Prague, Minn., to Peter and Lucy (Gierstorf) Schanus. She helped raise all of her twelve brothers and sisters. Lorraine married Ralph Nance when he was in the service. The couple raised a family in Hastings. After Ralph died, she moved to Red Wing where she resided at St. Brigid’s at Hi-Park.

She enjoyed arts and crafts, crocheting, and flower gardening. Lorraine was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church.

She is survived by six grandchildren, Kim Nance of Eagan, Bob (Kelly) Nance of Mankato, Lisa Nance of Pine Island, Andrea (Gene) Benck of Hager City, Joe (Tara) Nance of Prescott, and Tonia (Greg) Nance of Red Wing; 13 great-grandchildren; daughter-in-law, Anna Donaldson Nance; and three siblings, Marv, Rosemary, and Jeanne.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Ralph; two sons, Robert and Allen; and siblings, Donald, Clifford, Richard, Daniel, Georgine, Cecilia, Edward, Melvin, and La Verne.

Funeral service will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 26, at the Mahn Family Funeral Home, Bodelson-Mahn Chapel. Burial will be at Guardian Angels Cemetery in Hastings. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.
