The Wingers took 7th place out of 12 teams in River Falls on Saturday and Red Wing coach Beth Mayer was pleased with the performance of her team.
“If somebody just looks at our team’s total points they wouldn’t think it was a good meet for us but we eight and ninth graders against all older girls,” she said.
Red Wing finished with a score of 119.425.
Kassidy Coplan’s day was a highlight. She finished 6th on the balance beam with an 8.625. She also was tops on her team in the vault at 8.2. Coplan, an eighth-grader, posted season highs in the beam, bars as well as her all-around score.
“We were very impressed for how they handled the pressure for being such a young team,” Mayer said.
Freshman Molly Hart also posted a season-best 8.075 in the floor routine.
