Letter: Roschen should run for election

To the Editor:

I anticipated that Deb Roschen’s letter (R-E, Dec. 23) a couple weeks ago in which she held the “Spending Three” county commissioners accountable would draw some sort of response.

It is interesting how it didn’t take long for a couple of the government employees to defend their turf, and try to paint Mrs. Roschen in a negative way for her position on fiscal responsibility and common sense leadership.

Do you find it interesting there weren’t any letters from property owners chiming in to say that they are under-taxed? Do you suppose the obvious silence from taxpayers is a clear indication that they are on the same side as Roschen?

If so, I maintain Deb Roschen is speaking on behalf of all of us who pay excessive property taxes in this county. She obviously has followed what is going on with the spending from the County Board and is not afraid to stand up for farmers, business owners and property owners in Wabasha County.

I hope this letter plants a seed Roschen and we will have a candidate to support and be excited about in 2010.
