Fairview Red Wing Health Services has reorganized its services for employers into the new Employee Health and Wellness department.
Dr. Mark Steffen leads the department, which also includes nurse practitioner Crystal Boe and department manager Jill Kolsky, a specialist in occupational therapy and workplace safety.
"The needs of employers have changed over the years," Steffen said. "While workplace safety is still important, employers now see a need to help their employees stay healthy beyond the work environment. ... We work with employers to assist not only when an employee is injured, but to provide tools to keep employees healthy."
Wellness programs and activities are offered on site by Fairview health specialists, including:
• Onsite health screenings (vitals, blood draws}
• Health fairs
• Wellness programs: tobacco cessation, weight management, exercise/stretching
• Education/training ( sleep, hygiene, nutrition, pre-diabetes)
• Preventive Care (onsite ergonomic assessments, flu shot clinics)
• Workshops on self-management of chronic diseases
Traditional occupational medicine services such as drug screening, physicals and injury management are still available as well.
