Wish for healthy, happy holiday

Dear Santa: I saw you on the news last night. You wished that you could have an H1N1 shot.

Dear Santa:

I saw you on the news last night. You wished that you could have an H1N1 shot.

Santa, here is my wish.

I wish that no more children will be have to go to the hospital or die from H1N1, a virus that is hurting more young people than people your age.

I wish that there were enough H1N1 vaccine today for everybody who is around kids, but I know that wish cannot be granted right now.

So, I wish that those who are more likely to get really sick or die from H1N1 will get the vaccine first.

You’re my favorite, but I know that you are strong and healthy and that you will be careful around children this year.

I promise I will not come to see you if I am sick with a fever, I will not kiss your cheek, or shake your hand, even though you are wearing white gloves.

My time on your lap will be short, as will be my Christmas list this year.

My daddy says, “Times are tough,” and I know that means we can’t have everything we want.

So, Santa, even though you may not get your shot before Christmas, please be happy knowing that maybe you will help someone else who needs it more.

Have a very merry Christmas, Santa.

By the time I see you, maybe everyone will be better. For more information on how to protect yourself from the flu and what to do if you get sick, you can go to www.mdhflu.com.
