Girlfriends Expo planned at casino

More than 100 shopping exhibits, makeovers, interactive demonstrations, a fashion show, entertainment, a career seminar and more are planned as part of the Girlfriends Expo & Getaway Nov. 20-21 at Treasure Island Resort & Casino. The ladies-only event is billed as “mini vacation from holiday stress” that is a women’s alternative to the guys’ hunting weekend. Show hours are 5 to 9 p.m. Nov. 20 and 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Nov. 21.

Special features will include a free workshop called “Finding Work that Works” on Nov. 21, put on by the nonprofit organization WomenVenture. Reserve a seat online at www.101expos.com. For more information, call the expo hotline at (612) 798-7256.

The Breast Cancer Awareness Association will conduct a silent auction during the expo, plus there will be an Upscale Fashion Show at 1 p.m. Nov. 21. The association will receive a portion of ticket sales and other proceeds from the event produced by Mid-America Events & Expos, a woman-owned company.
