Pierce County planning flu clinics
The Pierce County Public Health Department is in the process of receiving the H1N1 flu vaccine, Director Sue Galoff announced.
The Pierce County Public Health Department is in the process of receiving the H1N1 flu vaccine, Director Sue Galoff announced. The agency is making plans to go out to all public schools in the county to administer the vaccine. to school-age children, who represent one of the target groups identified by the Centers for Disease Control. Schools will send details home with students.
An H1N1 clinic in Ellsworth for other targeted groups is
tentatively scheduled for 8:30 to 10 a.m. Oct. 30 at the health department office. Other groups recommended to receive the vaccine when it first becomes available include pregnant women, caregivers and household contacts of children under 6 months of age, health care and emergency medical services personnel, children ages 6 months to 18 years, young adults ages 19 to 24 years, and people ages 25 to 64 who have health conditions associated with higher risk of medical complications
