The Red Wing School District levy will shake out to be at least about $9.8 million, officials said.
School Board members on Monday approved a maximum levy of $9.23 million, a figure that does not account for approximately $575,000 that will be added to the total. The additional dollars will be used to pay interest on funds borrowed to pay for retiree health-care benefits.
District Finance Director Brad Johnson said the tax hike will mean a $40 property tax bump on a $200,000 home during 2010 and 2011.
