The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers wants to implement maintenance dredging in a 1,000-foot area of the Mississippi River upstream from Red Wing. The proposed work has been prompted by buildup of river sediment that has resulted in two recent barge groundings.

An environmental assessment has been prepared and is available for public review and comment until Sept. 26. A copy can be obtained online at www.mvp.usace.army.mil.
