Drazkowski won’t use Medicare?

Rep. Steve Drazkowski thinks the government has failed in health care (R-E, Aug. 28)?

To the Editor:

Rep. Steve Drazkowski thinks the government has failed in health care (R-E, Aug. 28)? How absurd! So I take it, Mr. Drazkowski, you won’t be using Medicare or VA health care?

Oh, he didn’t say that, did he!

I’m dealing with my dying mother, long retired and a World War II veteran, and without Medicare and the VA, I don’t know what we’d do. Medicare and VA have been very successful, we’ve received excellent care, no complaints. The VA has a great prescription drug program that cuts cost by 80-90 percent.

I’m one of the many self-employed people without “insurance” and pay cash for my health care. I highly resent the notion that we should have laws that mandate “insurance” and that we pay insurance companies money to line their pockets — after the bailouts, how stupid could we be?

There’s a big difference between health insurance and health care. It’s time to get insurance companies out of this and focus the money we spend on health care and not the insurance company profits.
