Cannon Falls managed just three hits off St. Cloud Orthopedic pitcher David Deminsky and lost 2-0 in the Class C state tournament in Arlington, Minn. St. Cloud scored both of its runs in the first inning.

The Bears play either Hanska or Winsted at 3:30 p.m. Sunday in Arlington. If they lose they are eliminated. But with a win they would play St. Cloud for the state championship Monday. Cannon Falls would need to be St. Cloud twice to win the state title.

Bill Dunker took the loss for the Bears. He pitched eight innings and allowed six hits. Dunker, who was drafted from St. Patrick, struck out five and walked two.

Luke Winchell, Rich Burr and Taylor Pagel each had a hit. Deminsky struck out 10 and walked one to earn the complete-game win.

Scott Geiger doubled in a run in the first and came in to score on a ground out. Geiger finished 3-for-4.
