Street dances, children's fun planned in Kenyon
The annual Kenyon Rose Fest Aug. 21-23 will feature street dances and other outdoor entertainment, plenty of games and activities for children, and competitions for all ages.
The annual Kenyon Rose Fest Aug. 21-23 will feature street dances and other outdoor entertainment, plenty of games and activities for children, and competitions for all ages.
Festivities begin Friday when the beer garden opens at 4 p.m. at the VFW, followed by a hog roast and a celebrity dunk tank. At Depot Park, the Spotlight Stealers will perform at 6 p.m., followed by Side Effects May Include at 7:30 p.m.
Saturday: Lions Club breakfast 7 a.m. at St. Michael's church; car show 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Third Street; fun run/walk 8:30 a.m.; quilt show at First Lutheran Church 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.; road rally at 10 a.m.; Gunderson House tours 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.,
Throughout the afternoon there will be a dunk tank, mini-golf, bean bags, pedal pulling, dog fashion show and beer keg toss. The festival parade will be at 5 p.m., and Casablanca Orchestra plays for a street dance at 9 p.m.
Sunday: Tractor pull at 9 a.m.; Gunderson House tours at 11 a.m.; mini golf at noon; horse pull at 1 p.m.; Family Fun Day at Depot Park; duck float at 4:30 p.m.
Throughout the weekend there will be a Field of Honor at Veterans Park, organized by the VFW and Color Guard. A donation of $20 is suggested to designate a flag in honor of a living or deceased American; honorees do not have to be connected with the military. Dedication will be at 4:30 p.m. Friday, and a memorial service is planned at 2:30 p.m. Sunday. Donations can be made at the VFW.
